Match Report
After the disappointment of last weekend where we had our winning run ended and we’re knocked off the top of the league, it is important to get back to winning ways against basement club Rovers.
For the second time in successive away matches, we faced a team under new management albeit Kevin Harper was only observing his new side today. The match began with City on the front foot and the lead around after 14 minutes, when a great cross to the back post by Adam Watson was brilliantly headed back across the keeper and into the far corner by Blair Henderson – who else?!
The conditions began to deteriorate midway through the first half, with heavy rain falling and in fairness chances were at a premium. It looked as if City would go in ahead until a moment of inspiration from Albion’s new Spanish signing Gerard Escuriola deceived Calum Antell deep into injury time.
With the driving rain continuing throughout the second half, clear cut chances for either side were few, however City regained their lead with 15 minutes to go, when Blair Henderson flicked on a downward header from Conrad Balatoni. Scott Shepherd has a great chance to put the game to bed but the keeper got down well to save and City saw the game out in atrocious conditions.
With other results going our way, it meant we ended the day back at the top of League 2.
A special mention must go to the the City travelling supporters who braved the elements today and gave us amazing backing throughout.
