Starting off with Hutchison Vale before joining the Hibernian academy set-up in 2014 (he was signed by Colin Jack, now City’s first-team coach), Calum was disappointed to be released by Hibs after three years at Easter Road, but there was no shortage of demand for his services; and after considering a move to the Motherwell youth set-up, he plumped for Edinburgh City instead, signing on 14 July 2017. It was originally intended that he join the under-20 squad, and while he still turns out for the City development side on a regular basis his performances soon ensured that he became a regular member of the first team squad.

In early matches the skilful right-sided midfielder sometimes found himself muscled off the ball, but regular exposure to League 2 football has toughened him up, and we soon hope to see him harrying defenders and goalkeepers in the same way he does for the under-20s.
