This weekend we head to the South-West to face Annan Athletic in the Cinch League 1 in a basement battle.
Having followed us by gaining promotion via the play-offs, Peter Murphy’s men have found life tough going in tier, being the only team other than ourselves, to have lost all three matches so far this season. The Galabankies have been a regular opponent since we entered the SPFL, and it will be good to renew our rivalry this season, in what could be considered an early season 6-pointer.
Kick off is 15:00 at Galabank Stadium, Annan DG12 5DG.
As per Annan’s website, admission prices are:
- Adults | £16
- Concessions | £12 (over 65s & under 18s)
- Children 12-16 | £6
- Under 12s | Free (with a paying adult)
Like City, Annan use FanBase as their ticketing platform, tickets are available here.
For the third match in a row, we will wear our new Hummel home shirts, of all-white, with the goalkeeper in blue. Our hosts will wear their tradition home colours of gold shirts, black shorts and gold socks.
Aside from long-term absentee Ben Stirling, we are awaiting fitness updates on Liam Fontaine, Kieran MacDonald and Scott Mercer. Ouzy See remains unavailable, however the rest of the squad should train ahead of the match.
May 13th 2022 is a date that will live long in City folklore, as the night we secured promotion from League 2! To say it was tense would be an understatement, as Annan wiped out our aggregate lead within 20 minutes, only for a terrific Innes Murray strike early in the second half, backed up by an awesome rear-guard action, to see us over the line. For that reason, Galabank will always have a special place in the hearts of the City supporters – albeit the hosts will be just as desperate for a result as us this weekend.
