Next Up | Greenock Morton | ViaPlay Cup

We head to Greenock for the final group match in this year’s league cup, still searching for our first points in the competition.

OPPOSITION

Dougie Imrie’s Morton have an outside chance of qualification to the knock out round of 16 in this year’s ViaPlay League Cup, so they are sure to come out all guns blazing. In their previous matches they narrowly lost out 2-1 up at Ross County, but bounced back with wins against Stranraer at Cappielow and then Kelty Hearts on the road at New Central Park.

KICK OFF

Kick off is 15:00 at Cappielow Park, Greenock.

ADMISSION

As per agreement between the five clubs in group D, admission prices are as follows:

  • Adults | £14
  • Concessions | £10 (over 65s & under 18s)
  • Under 12s | Free (with a paying adult)

Like City, Morton use FanBase as their ticketing platform, tickets are available here.

Greenock Morton are making a live stream of the game available; see their social media channels for full information and pricing.

KIT SELECTION

Our new kit continues to be elusive, so this week we revert to last season’s all-black change kit, with our goalkeeper in all yellow. Morton will be in their traditional home colours of blue and white hooped shirts, white shorts and blue socks, with their goalkeeper in all pink.

TEAM NEWS

Ben Stirling is again missing, and he may be joined on the sidelines by Scott Mercer and Russell McLean, who both picked up knocks midweek. Ouzy See is also unavailable due to commercial commitments, however new signing Andy McNeil should be available to join the match day squad.

PREVIOUS MEETING

We have met Greenock Morton once since our SPFL return, also in the League Cup group stage, back in 2017. A 5-0 defeat for The Ton, was a chastening one for then-manager Gary Jardine’s side and we will hope to avoid a similar fate this time out!
