On Wednesday 19th July, competitive football returns for season 2023/24, as we entertain fellow League 1 rivals, Kelty Hearts at Meadowbank Stadium.
OPPOSITION
Player manager Michael Tidser has had a summer of transition, given the changing ownership structure of the club. Much like ourselves, their plans are perhaps slightly behind schedule, however the Maroon Machine have made a number of recent signings to bolster their squad, and have had a solid pre-season. In their opening ViaPlay Cup match, they went down 3-1 at home to Greenock Morton of the Championship, so they will be anxious to make amends on match day 2.

Kick off is 19:45 on Wednesday 19th July at Meadowbank Stadium; turnstiles will be open from 18:45.

TEAM NEWS
Against a backdrop of change at the club, Alan Maybury has been able to retain a significant number of last-season’s squad, with key-men such as Danny Handling, Innes Murray, Liam Fontaine all committed once again. Additions have included Robbie Leitch from Cove Rangers, Russell McLean formerly of Peterhead and Dumbarton and, most recently, Robbie Mahon on loan from Motherwell, all of whom should be available for selection. The only confirmed absentees ahead of this week’s match are Ryan Shanley, who is suspended and Ouzy See, who (in)famously is participating in Love Island…
PREVIOUS MEETING
Our most recent meeting with the men from New Central Park ended in an entertaining two all draw, back in April. Kelty went in ahead at the break, courtesy of an Aaron Darge goal, however the home side turned the match around, with Innes Murray and Ryan Shanley netting to put us in the ascendency. It was to end all-square however, as Kallum Higginbotham levelled on 76 minutes, to ensure a point went back over the Queensferry Crossing.
